How did m³ come about - company history

From carpentry supplies to container success!

The former start-up company came about in an almost adventurous way: Patrick Schmieder worked as a sales coach for many years and accompanied several medium-sized companies in Saxony. When he felt the need to sell a product with tailored services in order to escape the often theoretical work, his cousin came to him looking for storage space for his carpentry workshop. His brother in Hanover thought of shipping containers from Hamburg and used his truck driver's license from his fire department to supply him with used 20-foot containers, which he drove to the front door on this way.

The surrounding craft companies quickly recognized the advantages of robust, weatherproof boxes and their requirements resulted in a business model. In 2016, Patrick founded the company Mein Lagerraum³ GmbH together with a partner. The business model also includes clever logistics. We often use empty trips from freight forwarders to fetch containers from Hamburg. Some parts are also shipped on the Elbe to Riesa or delivered by rail. We then deliver finished storage containers or converted containers to house builders or companies on a turnkey basis. You can also store your own things in our three depots.

Today - m³

Today we are at m³ proud of our early story due to fate and how far we've come since then. We quickly recognized the enormous potential of robust shipping containers, which were originally designed for hard transport on the high seas. But our vision went beyond that: These containers have much more to offer and can lead a “second life” — as bar containers, storage rooms, elegant exhibition buildings, housings for energy storage systems and many other creative special buildings.
