Herkömmliche Seecontainer mit Flügeltüren an der Stirnseite sind für den Großteil der Transportlogistik ausreichend. Sobald jedoch sperrige Güter, breite Paletten oder Maschinen be- oder entladen werden müssen, wird der schmale Zugang zum Engpass. Side Door Container – auch Open Side Container genannt – lösen dieses Problem durch eine vollständig öffnende Längsseite. Sie sind nach ISO 668 klassifiziert, international transportfähig und in der Praxis aus Automotive-Logistik, Messebau und temporären Verkaufsflächen nicht mehr wegzudenken.

Was ist ein Open Side Door Container?

Ein Open Side Container – fachsprachlich auch Full Side Access Container oder Side Door Container – ist ein Frachtcontainer nach ISO-Norm, dessen gesamte Längsseite (ca. 5,9 Meter) über ein System aus mehreren Flügeltüren vollständig geöffnet werden kann. Im Gegensatz zu Standardcontainern (ISO-Typ 1C/1D), die ausschließlich Stirnseiten-Türen besitzen, ermöglicht diese Bauweise den direkten seitlichen Zugriff über die gesamte Containerbreite – ohne Umstapeln, ohne Hindernisse.

Die Seitenöffnung besteht in der Regel aus zwei bis vier Flügeltüren, die sich über die gesamte Längsseite spannen und vollständig nach außen klappen lassen. In geschlossenem Zustand sind die Türen dicht verschlossen und entsprechen denselben Dichtungsstandards wie herkömmliche ISO-Container – geprüft nach ISO 1496-1, einschließlich Wasser- und Druckdichtigkeitstest.

Technische Vorteile gegenüber Standardcontainern

Die konstruktiven Unterschiede sind nicht nur komfortbedingt – sie haben direkte Auswirkungen auf Ladezeit, Staplereignung und Schadensquote bei der Ware.

Öffnungsbreite bis zu 5,9 m – Paletten (1.200 × 1.000 mm) können quer eingefahren werden, was Ladezeit um bis zu 40 % reduziert.

In der High Cube Ausführung (2.896 mm Außenhöhe) erhöht sich der nutzbare Laderaum auf bis zu 37,3 m³ – gegenüber 33,1 m³ beim Standard.

Lockbox-Sicherung
Die integrierte Lockbox ist eine aufgeschweißte Schutzhaube aus Hardox-Stahl, die das Schloss vollständig verdeckt. Sie verhindert den Einsatz von Winkelschleifern und Bolzenschneidern – der relevante Angriffspunkt bei einfachen Vorhängeschlössern.

Containerlösungen sind per Definition auf Mehrfacheinsatz ausgelegt. Dank des ISO-Eck-Beschlag-Systems (Corner Castings) lassen sich Container mit Standard-Twistlocks auf jedes genormte Transport­mittel verladen – Schiff, LKW, Bahn.

Konstruktionsmerkmale im Detail

Seitenflügeltüren mit umlaufender EPDM-Dichtung

Die Flügeltüren der Längsseite sind mit EPDM-Gummidichtungen (Ethylen-Propylen-Dien-Monomer) ausgestattet – dasselbe Material, das in Automobilindustrie und Fassadenbau für Langzeitdichtheit eingesetzt wird. EPDM bleibt bei Temperaturen von −40 °C bis +120 °C elastisch und ist UV- sowie ozonbeständig. Das Ergebnis: Der Container hält die Schutzklasse IP44 (geschützt gegen Spritzwasser aus allen Richtungen) auch bei geöffneter Seite in Ruheposition. Rückseitig bleibt die klassische Stirnseiten-Flügeltür erhalten – die volle Flexibilität bleibt gewahrt.

Lockbox – Sicherheitsarchitektur erklärt

Die Lockbox ist eine aufgeschweißte Metallkammer aus gehärtetem Stahl (Hardox oder vergleichbar), die das Vorhängeschloss vollständig umschließt. Der Zylinder und der Bügel sind von außen nicht zugänglich, was den Einsatz von Bolzenschneider, Flex oder Hammer auf die metallische Außenhülle beschränkt – im Gegensatz zu frei zugänglichen Schlössern an Standardcontainern. Für erhöhte Sicherheitsanforderungen empfehlen sich ABUS-Containerbolzenschlösser (Klasse 6) oder ISO-Container-Schlösser nach EN 12320.

CSC-Zertifizierung – Voraussetzung für den internationalen Transport

Alle unsere Side Door Container sind nach der International Convention for Safe Containers (CSC) zertifiziert – ein seit 1972 international verbindlich vorgeschriebener Nachweis für Container im grenzüberschreitenden Verkehr. Das CSC-Schild am Container belegt die bestandene Prüfung auf Stapellast, Zugkraft, Druckkraft und Dichtigkeit. Ohne gültiges CSC-Datum darf ein Container nicht auf Schiffe verladen werden – ein Faktor, den viele Anbieter bei umgebauten oder modifizierten Containern vernachlässigen. Unsere Container werden nach Umbauarbeiten re-zertifiziert und erhalten ein neues ACEP (Approved Continuous Examination Programme)-Datum.
