The 20-foot insulated container uses closed-cell foam insulation such as PU or PIR to significantly reduce heat exchange with the environment. As a result, the internal temperature remains stable over a longer period of time without the need to supply energy.
In contrast to retroactively insulated shipping containers, insulation prevents condensation and reliably protects goods from moisture and extreme temperature fluctuations.

The 20-foot Non-Working Reefer is a former ocean freight refrigerated container whose refrigeration unit is permanently out of service or has been removed. The factory high-performance polyurethane foam (PU) insulation is completely retained — with wall thicknesses of typically 80-100 mm. The container therefore offers a significantly more consistent interior climate than a standard dry container, without ongoing energy costs for active cooling.
